Satu Muurinen is a Helsinki-based costume designer and visual artist, with an MA in costume design for performing arts and film from Aalto University.

Satu is interested in creating dimensional and recognizable characters, and rich, personable worlds through observational costume design and compassionate collaboration. Their skill-set has lent itself to realistic, character-driven, as well as symbolical and process-oriented works. Recent works include costume design for Kaija Saariaho's Émilie-opera (2025) by Kokonainen ry and Kamariorkesteri Avanti!, costume and make up design for contemporary dance piece REV DIV LUV (2025), and costume design for multiple short films as well as other short form work such as Areena stories series Imago (2025) and Poikaräppäri (2025).

They value inspiring, joyous art-making, conversations and meaningful story-telling. They are currently available for work.
